William A. Bill Thompson died at home after a brief illness on February 13, age 59.

Husband of Nora Smith-Thompson.

Bill was born in Medford and raised in Winchester. He graduated Winchester High School in 1966, attend Curry College and UMass, Dartmouth, where he received his B.S. in biology.

Former director of infection control at Jewish Memorial Hospital and was Board Certified in Epidemiology.

He was a businessman in Scituate for 10 years, owned Thompson Business Services and Supply and sponsored a little league team.

He was an accomplished guitar player.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Bill was Commander of American Legion Post 144 and a 3rd Degree Mason with the Satuit Lodge AF & AM.

Loving brother of George Thompson and his wife Judy of Gloucester and Martha George of Winchester. Also survived by two nephews, Nathan George and Alexander Thompson, niece, Caitlin Thompson and great nephews, Dylan Spellman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scituate American Legion Post 144, P.O. Box 577, Scituate, MA 02066.
